Iss' And Answers Published In Maryenne Madonna is really, in itself, like a small village. It is complete with its own people, work, projects and government. But no town is really well equipped without a newspaper, and so Madonna has the Maryenne. A tradi- tion for years, the Maryenne covers topics from Sister Sheila Speaks to 'tDear Mona and Sadie's Corner . Dear Mona and Sadie's Corner are new additions to the paper this year. UDear Mona solves your problems and f'Sadie's Corner describes whatever seems to run through our dear Sadie's head. So now that your questions are answered and your mind is expanded, you just can't go wrong. Giving factual reports of the school's events, the paper also gives students a chance to voice their opinionsiin Letters to the Editor. The staff often in- cludes an individual, special touch with poems, candid pictures and class trihutes. A hundred essays could never descrihe the true Madonna life as one picture would. Snapping their camera on inspiration, the photography staff can depict the calm of Ma- donna with a picture of the Chapel or the daily hustle with a cafeteria scene. Starting off with a million different ideas and unquenchable ambi- tion, the editors are tested by all too short deadlines. lust as every bridge and building needs a blueprint, so does a yearbook require alay- out. With pica ruler and pencil in hand, the layout staff places each picture in its posi- tion antl decides the dimension for every- thing that will be written. A theme, a few creative ideas and a bottle of Excedrin are the copy staff's tools. From the many pictures of Madonna hap- penings, they try to write headlines and captions that will make each reader reflect. As long as the photography staff have their supply of flashcubes, nothing can stop them from taking their typically candid shots of Madonna. They supply the year- book with that added touch that distin- guishes it from any other. Without the Index and Directory staff the Madonna would be a yearbook with a blurred identity. When the many parts of the yearbook are coordinated, Madonna '71 should come into sharp focus for everyone to remember.
