Each girl possesses qualities which are the trademark of her individuality. The personality of each girl becomes a part of the total character of Madonna through the Student Council. Its goal is to promote general understanding between faculty and students. This is especially pursued by the homeroom representatives who bridge the communication gap. But just as a lock without a key is worthless, so too is Student Council handicapped without general support. Keeping in mind the individuality of each girl, Madonna's Student Council sponsored a variety of activities. On the scene of the annual Christmas Bazaar were booths varying from a chic boutique to a swinging roulette casino. The days continued to be torn off the calendar and soon it was the Sweetest Cirl Dance. And quietly the red hearts of Valentines Day were covered by the green shamrocks ofthe Saint Patrick's Day plays. The success of the activities will always be remem- bered because of the spirit of comedy, competition, con- fusion, and cooperation they engendered. It has been said that Hall things must pass, however, the indelible mark Student Council has left will never fade away. Rain, snow, sleet, or shine, nothing stops our mail except a fine.

E nity And Spirit Result The 'rpith of toflay prefers to believe they are a new breed 2 ample. Part of society, demanding to be heard, they rnay be correct in their conviction. Madonna proudly gives its students a voice in student government through class officers and homeroom representation. Presffnting the student viewpoint effectively requires a certain de- gree of leadership, for a student representative has to act satisfactorily and responsibly toward her peers. To gain an insight into her abilities in this field, Madonna offers many chances for experience in democratic pro- cedures. Conducting class meetings, planning class projects and voicing homeroom grievances are among their many tasks. As a representative, she is also respon- sible for relaying the Student Council minutes and organ- izing the homeroom booth for the Christmas Bazaar. The most memorable event, the class prom, is headed by the class officers. Their job is large but packed with satis- faction, satisfaction of helping their class grow in unity and co-operation. With the number of youth participation in national affairs increasing, it is becoming more important for each of them to have the experience of leadership, for soon they will have to be productive citizens.
