Participation Is What Makes Gur Madonna Thrive To watch the highway overhead empty it- self of cars while the sun sets in the background, To glance at the clock saying four, while listening to the last locker slam, To stand in a silent hall that echoes the day's occurrences, This is what is witnessed in the after-school hours. A meeting that afterwards becomes a session of unburdening troubles, Silly skips with a best-pal when no one is looking, A student-teacher relationship which turns person-to-person, Most of all, accomplishing goals through responsibility and hard work, These are encircled in the special world ofschool activities where happenings are brimming with reflections.

Stiudent Council Starts With Ideas: Given Time Leadership is a significant quality in our four Student Council Officers. Left to Hight: Gilda Filicetti, Treasurer, Debbie Nowak, Secretory, Mary Ann Gaeta, Presidentg Iennifer Skvarla, Vice-President. lust as a flower's every petal is unique, so too is every student at Madonna. Each girl possesses qualities which are the trademark of her individuality. The personality of each girl becomes a part of the total character of Madonna through the Student Council. Its goal is to promote general understanding between faculty and students. This is especially pursued by the homeroom representatives who bridge the communication gap. But just as a lock without a key is worthless, so too is Student Council handicapped without general support. Keeping in mind the individuality of each girl, Madonna's Student Council sponsored a variety of activities. On the scene of the annual Christmas Bazaar were booths varying from a chic boutique to a swinging roulette casino. The days continued to be torn off the calendar and soon it was the Sweetest Cirl Dance. And quietly the red hearts of Valentines Day were covered by the green shamrocks ofthe Saint Patrick's Day plays. The success of the activities will always be remem- bered because of the spirit of comedy, competition, con- fusion, and cooperation they engendered. It has been said that Hall things must pass, however, the indelible mark Student Council has left will never fade away. Rain, snow, sleet, or shine, nothing stops our mail except a fine.
