NATICDNAL HONOR SCJCIETY The purpose of the National Honor Society is to recognize Character, Service, Leadership and Scholarship in the high schools of our coun- try. Members are selected because of high ideals, service to school and community, leadership potential, and intellectualachievement. This 'honor carries with it extraordinary responsibility to God, to Church, to country, and to school. Retreat is a time of many graces. As our retreat masters the Reverend Fathers Marcellus and James Anthony C P leave the chapel they will be greeted by B. Confer, V. Laka, J Slish and B Kubnck MATURE IN FAITH Throughout our four years at Madonna, we students find ourselves evolving into fervent, God-fearing followers of Christ. We realize this transformation has been brought about by weekly attendance at Mass, reception of Holy Communion, frequent visits to the chapel, and the yearly retreat, which provides much-needed advice and untold spiritual blessings. Also an important factor in our development is the daily ex- ample of our priests, our parents, the Sisters, and our lay teachers. To them we owe a very special debt of gratitude for our precious gift of a vivid, living faith which comes to us through encouragement, love and vigilance. At Madonna' we have learned to place our faith and trust in God. This love of Him will help us develop into devoted Catholic women. We have learned the art of Christian living-going to Jesus through Mary-and now we want to exemplify this art by doing God's will in all things. Each Tuesday finds M. DeBartels participating in the lay apostolate as she gives religious instruction to these public school children.
