THE Most REVEREND Josspn A. BURKE, D.D. Bishop of Bujala His Excellency, Bishop Joseph A. Burke, D.D1, our spiritual leader since 1952, has al- ways had as his prime pastoral concern the welfare of his flock in the Diocese of Buffalo in Western New York. In keeping with this concern, one of his greatest desires is the furthering of Catholic education, for he is aware that today's students are tomorrow's leaders. For this reason, Madonna High School was founded. Bishop Burke has given his fatherly interest to each school entrusted to his care, and has worked zealously for its spiritual benefit. Our sincere gratitude and prayers for our beloved Bishop! His Excellency, Bishop Leo R. Smith, D.D. , a consecrated leader of the government of the Catholic Church, has worked intimately with the youth of our growing nation-guiding souls to God. He has striven to instill in them a steadfast dedication to God and country. His zealous devotion to the potential of American youth is exemplined in his estab- lishment of the Catholic Youth Movement in the Diocese of Buffalo and in his advoca- tion of the National Federation of Diocesan Catholic Youth Councils, a unified organiza- tion of young Catholics which he serves in his oflicial capacity of Episcopal Moderator.
