The Officers helped regis- ter new students and foreign ex- change students. Next in line came Homecoming plans. The theme chosen was We Are Gonna Take It All The Way! Homecoming week was filled with many activities including, Powder Puff Football on Tues- day, the road ralley and parade on Friday and concluding with the Homecoming Dance on Sat- urday night. As December drew near, plans for Christmas week were finalized. The corps braved snow and rain as they marched for many football games and performed at the state football playoffs in the minidome. Spirit Leader, Mary Ann Rydalch, headed the Spirit Club as they took charge of decorations and refreshments. With a terrific record and the A-2 State Championship title, the varsity football team completed a very successful, fulfilling year representing the Madison High School Bobcats. The team ' s superlative interceptions, long treacherous runs, and split-second precision combined with spirit and unity brought rewards of victory manyfold. Although they tasted the bitter sting of defeat in their one game loss to the Bonneville Bees, it was not a defeat for long because they showed through in the end. Madison High School has one of the finest coaching staffs in the Upper Snake River Valley. You may ask — What is Cross Country? Cross Country is a five-thousand meter run on a course covering many types of terrain including: mud, gravel, rock, sand, and grass. Practice began during the summer and ran into the fall. After many weeks of practice Madison competed in five meets. The hard work and dedication paid off when both boys and girls teams won district for the second year in a row sending both teams to the State Championships. They got into shape with aerobics at the Raquetball Club, by lifting weights and some even braved the elements to run outside.
