Student Body I Officers 84-85 Rod Sanders President l-.,7.t As Studentbody Officers started out the year, registration was one of the first responsibi- lites. The Officers helped regis- ter new students and foreign ex- change students. Next in line came Homecoming plans. The theme chosen was We Are Gonna Take It All The Way! Homecoming week was filled with many activities including, Powder Puff Football on Tues- day, the road ralley and parade on Friday and concluding with the Homecoming Dance on Sat- urday night. As December drew near, plans for Christmas week were finalized. MHS Week and Bobcat Olym- pics were just a few of the activi- ties Studentbody Officers took charge of during the spring se- mester. The Studentbody Officers did a great job with all their group duties as well as individual re- sponsibilities. They led the school in a fantastic year and hopefully helped Madison to Take It All The CTIONS 1984 Colona! Sanders Crew and the Dukes of Downey were the slogans chosen for the campaign parties of ' 84. While Chad was busy with John building snowmen, the girls were busy planning the Junior Prom which turned out to be the most extrodinary dance of the year! This illustrious acting group started off the year by doing a readers theatre Once Upon a Mat- tress. Then in December they had a variety show compiled of the stu- dents own material. This was en- joyed very much by the public. Spring brought a serious play To Kill a Mocking Bird. In competition map ' s took state for the second year and brought another success story to add to their collection. The Madison Avenue Players salute the loquacious Miss Wright for the hours of work and worry put into these shows and performances! Late nights working on posters, learning hundreds of cheers, screaming until hoarse and freezing out in the cold to try and cheer out spirit from the Madison fans. The flags were in waving action as they marched for 2 parades over the summer and participated in both Homecom- ing parades-Madison High and Ricks College. The corps braved snow and rain as they marched for many football games and performed at the state football playoffs in the minidome. They perfected their competition routine at basketball halftimes and participat- ed in a National Competition in Denver. It was a great year for the Flag Corps. With a terrific record and the A-2 State Championship title, the varsity football team completed a very successful, fulfilling year representing the Madison High School Bobcats. The team ' s superlative interceptions, long treacherous runs, and split-second precision combined with spirit and unity brought rewards of victory manyfold. Although they tasted the bitter sting of defeat in their one game loss to the Bonneville Bees, it was not a defeat for long because they showed through in the end. Madison High School has one of the finest coaching staffs in the Upper Snake River Valley. You may ask — What is Cross Country? Cross Country is a five-thousand meter run on a course covering many types of terrain including: mud, gravel, rock, sand, and grass. Practice began during the summer and ran into the fall. After many weeks of practice Madison competed in five meets. The hard work and dedication paid off when both boys and girls teams won district for the second year in a row sending both teams to the State Championships. They got into shape with aerobics at the Raquetball Club, by lifting weights and some even braved the elements to run outside.
