It took part in the con- cert for the benefit of the Salvation Army in October, and also played a most im- portant part in the Christmas Pageant held in December. At the Southeastern Michigan Music Festival held in Mt. Clemens in March, this organization was given a superior rating. The Orchestra assisted with the concerts given for the purpose of furthering interest in good music, has played before school assemblies on differ- ent occasions, and has furnished music for numerous school functions.

The Marching Band, with Fred Chelf completing his second year as drum major, has most generously given of its music at football games and at pep meet- ings. Many small ensembles made up of members of the band and orchestra have willingly contributed their talents to entertaining in the community. There were among these a Clarinet Quartet, a German Band, a Woodwind Quintet, a Cornet Quartet, a Trombone Quartet, and a French Horn Quartet. The Band took part in the Southeastern Michigan Music Festival in Detroit in May, gaining distinctive honors.
