One of the most well-known clubs at Madison is the Tri-Hi-Y, now eleven years old, Madison is very proud of having the first Tri-Hi-Y in Ohio, A year ago they tied with three other schools for first place ln the Ann Trembly award. The club how has three chapters with separate officers for each one. There is a council for the entire Tri-Hi-Y. With their readiness to serve they have endeavored to live up to their purpose: To create, maintain, and extend throughout the home, school and community, high standards of Christian character. Meetings were held the first, third and fifth Tuesday evenings of every month at which time they planned the banquets, heard numerous men and women speakers, or combined their chapters to discuss various business matters. Four Madison seniors have been selected for an appoint- ment to the General Motors Institute Cooperative Engi- neering Training program. They are Dick Davis, John Boe- deker, Walter Vernon, and Bud -Denlinger. Walter and John will work on a co-operative plan with the inland Mfg. Division of Gen- erdl Motors while Dick and Bud are connected with Frigi- dairen HALI- MONITORS By Nancy Schumacher I have not come in contact with the monitors, butl believe that there could certainly be no harm done by keeping them on duty. In each case, a Hall Monitor should be well-known and liked by the student body and have high standards. This way the students will respect them, if they do not throw their weight around, and beiover- bearing in their position. The studens knnw that there is entirely too much loitering in the halls. That is why it is necessary for Hall Monitors. If this does not succeed, then teachers will have to gain more discipline. HOME ECONOMICS lt's pie baking time in the Sophomore Home Economics class. The aroma of cherry and apple pies floating through the air makes everyone's mouth water. The Freshmen Class will soon be making spring dresses. They will be made from cotton material and styled according to each girl's wishes. Tassels were included in this price at 35 cents each. Caps and gowns for the girls are white or a light color, while gowns for boys are a dark color, usually navy blue. .IOURNALISM STUDENTS T0 VISIT Mc1CALL'S Annual field trip for joumal- ism students will be April 10. With skilled guidance from Mrs. Okeson, the club had a skating party, bake sale, and car wash, besides games and other activities. To become a member of G, A,A, , each girl must have obtained at least '75 points. This usually takes a year to become a member. Several girls have received their letters, because they eamed the necessary 150 points. Points are won by refereeing or scorekeeping at games, by walking or bicycle hiking, by playing ball games, hockey, or soccer, by keeping health charts, and by letter grades made in class. This club is open to grades 9 through 12. To enter this club you really have to follow the motto: 'To create a clean mind, body and sportsmanship, to promote the feeling of honesty and leadership in the field of athletics. The officers are as follows: Marcia Johnson, President, Becky Pollock, Vice President, Rita Speraw, Corresponding Secretary, Judy Krull, Recording Secretary.
