In comparison with the one -room school house and only two teachers, we have grown to have a faculty of 58. In regard to more students, more classroom space must be provided. As years go by we have a larger gradua- ting class and our club memberships have grown. Because of the growth, the high school has had a closed noon and the bus routes have been doubled. On the activity side of our growth we have expanded our relationship with other schools in sporting events from class B to class A . The Junior Class play of this year hit an all-time in at- tendance. You may compare the 1866 noon hour when everyone rode horseback, or this years 1955 cafeteria serving over 1700 hungry people. New added activities to our school in '54-'55, are the French Club, the Cheering Club, and the Honor Society. ...Qu-by K K The Board of Education has quite a job to direct and keep ahead of the growth any school makes. This year they have been very busy planning another building, one to be built at a new location in the district. At work here are fleft to rightj Mr. Richard Gump, Presidentg Mr. Mark Seybold, Mr. Phillip Shaw, Vice President: Mr. I. B. Flora and Mr. T. O. Devers pointing out the plans for the new elemen- tary school. fi tct . b Nasir K - E ,M ' 'Ti ' . ' 1' . --- ' - :nln,Qili. - , ,...,, .,.,, 'll 'il . The Madison Freshmen are on parade fall 154 of themj, Our officers have done a rea1 cool job this past year, They're four more of those real hep freshmen. Our boys were very successful on the gridiron with a 4-1 -1 record. Our basketball team successfully defended its county championship the best they could. Our cheerleaders really helped the boys rack up those victories, Sometimes those 504 -per month dues seem to add up very slowly, but they do count up. Our project sponsoring will come later, We are really bubbling over with ideas. We think we just can't wait till we grow into putting these ideas into action, - SS S ,,. V B. Phi1liP5 G. We'd like to let you in on a few of our accomplishments. Our money-making projects ranged from paper drives to baked -goods sales, hold- ing concession stands, and sponsoring the STAG OR DRAG dance. All of these helped us grow a little closer to being wealthy seniors next year. This is the year we presented our first class play, You'l1 Die Laughing, We never before realized we had such accomplished actors and actresses in our midst. One of the highlights of the year was the receiving of our class rings. One would think that after waiting ages for them we'd want to keep them, but it wasn't long until most of them were sized with nail polish to fit that specia1 someone's linger, Now we can hardly wait till our summer's growth entitles us to those certain front seats in the center section for all assemblies. Although the staff was made up of only seven students, the new plan having three seniors, two juniors, and two sopnomores workea considerably well, Mrs. Burkett, the staff advisor, helped with decisions and spent many hours with the staff in order to make this book a success.
