Kathryn Johnson , ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 56 THE MADISONIAN NINETEEN THIRTY six Xwff' JG 'or GYPSY TROUBADOUR Nikoli son of Todoro the ruler of a Gyp y trlbe having been p rmitted to acquire a. college education on account of his unusual intellectual gifts returns to the gypsy camp with the ambition to become a poet publi h his writings and marry Clare Clayton T doro is disgusted for he has long p armed that his son should marry Roslta a charming gYDSY girl Todoros nephew Vario a treacherous schemei wants Nikoli to marry Clare so he can have Roslta. He then proceeds to steal a necklace from Clare. The necklace is found in the possession of Rosita and she is accused. It all ends happily when Marko and Tom expose the plot of Vario whom Todoro promptly expels from the tribe. Nikoli comes back and is more than glad to remain with and rule his tribe and marry Rosita.
