Homecoming is eagerly an- ticipated each year by the students of Central. Two weeks before Home- coming Day, work is begun by each homeroom on floats for the parade. The night before Home- coming, the identity of the King and Queen is revealed. The coronation is followed Queen Susan Rentz and King Russell Johnson presided over the 1963 Homecoming of MHS. by a huge bonfire and pep rally. Homecoming Day is cele- brated by a pep meeting in the school, a parade, the Big Game, and a dance that fol- lows the game. The 1963 Homecoming, the last one for the Class of '64, was a re- sounding success that will be hard to forget. Central, won first place in Originality for the Freshmen. Several Seniors work diligently to pre- pare the Royalty float, Eighteen Yel- low Roses, for the parade. The first was lit by pranksters who were eager to join the festivities. The second was the biggest ever to be set afire in the history of the school. 69
