to Vctofuj Track this year has influenced a larger number of boys to participate in the activities of the track team. The dif- ferent sections of competition include the hurdles, shot- put, relays, pole-vaulting and disc throwing. The track team has taken part in many different events in the towns that are part of the Eastern South Dakota Conference. Victories are determined by the number of points Won by the boys in each event. Jim Applewick is shown here tak- ing the lead, at the Flandreau Track Meet, in running the quar- ter mile relay. Track season opens for M.H.S. as soon as the snow disappears and the weather warms up. The Bull- dogs busily practice in preparation for their up coming track meet. Alton Koistinen is shown here running the 440. The boys, upon displaying their talent of jumping the hurdles, were able to win their first track meet of the season at Flandreau. 53
