45 Sophs Earn 2-5 JV Record
The Junior Vafrsity squad has had better seasons than
this year, but they had a good turn out. Farty-five
sophomores played this season to a two win and five
loss record.
Some of the sophomores played on the Varsity this
year instead of all sophomores and some iuniors on
their J.V. squads.
A couple of the games they lost co-uld have gone
either way. In the Lincoln game, we led all the way up
to the last minutes of the game, 6-0 when Lincoln got
a touchdown and PAT to win 6-7.
All of this year's J.V. players who turn out next year
will play varsity ball. Coach O'Donnell said the boys to
h next ear are Cork Owen Rick Metzger Jim
watc y y , ,
Higginbotham, Doug Oman, Ron Lutz, Jay Yoshihara,
and especially Wayne Cumley and Rich Dorton.
Frosh Turnout Provides Two Teams
Coaches Jim Smith and Tom Pilleggi had 79 turn out
for their frosh team. It was a good season in which the
team made history. It was the first time for the frosh to
play two games with the same team.
Due to the large number of players that turned out
at both Grant and Madison the teams were divided in
half and they had two games. We won one 13-O and
lost the other 0-7.
The team was led by all-around player Dave White.
The best tackler on the team was Bob Hoffman and
the best blocker was guard, Mitch Wolfsehr who missed
the last part of the season because of an operation.
Wayne Brown showed the most hustle and was always
on the move.
Coach Smith said that the purpose' of the Frosh team
is to develop a top notch J.V. team, and the prospects
look real good.
