Hi there, I'm Denny Hoven To: MR. ROCKOW MR. O'GRADY
And I'm fun to be with We’ll TY Harder
Phone 257-1814 Julie, Chris, Dave The 3 Senior drummersAs editor of the yearbook, I have "liberated" this page to thank some of the people who have made this year a good one, often at a great cost to themselves, in time and sometimes in money.
The pep band was really great, and all the members deserve the thanks of everyone at Central for the hard work they put into it and the marvelous performances we got out of it. Much thanks to Mr. Rockow as well as the band members. I honestly don't think that there was another pep band this year better than ours.
This year's carnival was the best one I have ever attended, and the people that deserve credit for it are too numerous to mention. Many seniors gave up a lot of their time and effort to make it come off in the great way that it did. The people in charge of decorations are particularly to be congratulated.
Our good old football team pulled some victories out of the fire for us this year, and they certainly deserve recognition for their efforts. Along this same line, I would like to thank the true MCU fans who went to the games whenever it was humanly possible and cheered their hearts out for their team. They showed that some of us still have that old spirit and love for our school that has burned low the last few years.
I will always say that we have had the greatest faculty in the city at Central. We don't realize until it is all over how really great our teachers are. In this instance I am not just talking about the debt we owe them for educating us, or at least attempting to get through to us. I am talking about the extra things that they do to help us along or to make school more enjoyable. I am sure that everyone will remember the aud this spring with the faculty combo. These are the things I would like to thank our faculty for; for showing us that they are real people and that they care about us.
Finally, I would like to thank the individuals who have always been there when things were going haywire, the people who always found time to help out even if the job was not theirs, the Centralites who worked long and hard for their school because there were things that had to be done, and the people who somehow managed to get things done in time and in great shape when things were beginning to look dark. I don’t want to mention names here because there is always someone left off who should be on. The people I am talking about know who they are as do most of us, so this is their thanks. It's funny that this is the only thanks that some people get, yet it is more than enough to satisfy them; because they do not work for their own selfish recognition but rather for the good of us all.
To the sophomores and juniors I would like to say this. Try to achieve the excellence of character shown by these people. Make Central's last year a good one. It is an obligation you have to yourself, your schoolmates, and your alumni. And one day, when you look back, you will find that the work you put into your school was repaid ten fold by the enjoyment you got out of it.
