FUTURE FARMERS MADERA CHAPTER EAPO SCLIN tte eee ne eoet stan ee ch eye ed Ur A Ree a EL MEY Calvin Jones Vice President... ..Robert Albonico Secretary. -Floyd Tune Treasurer. -Milo Shelton Reporter Gilbert Veatch Yell Leader... Kyle Absher Adviser. J. McMahon The Madera Chapter of Future Farmers has an active membership of sixty. A wide range of activities has been carried on by the chapter this year. Every member of the chapter has conducted a supervised commercial size home project, making a splendid profit for each. The chapter has rendered valuable service to the community, entering a float in the Old Timer’s Parade, holding a ‘‘get-together’’ meeting for alumni and members, donating cash and shoes to the American Legion welfare fund, and contributing several hundred dollars worth of work to the community through the farm mechanics classes. Competing with others in the valley and state, the club’s teams have won recogni- tion in the contests. They have attended the Future Farmer Convention at the State Fair in Sacramento, the Pacific Slope Dairy Show in Oakland, and the Davis College of Agriculture Contests at Davis. Resulting from the excellent work in judging contests, the Madera chapter of Future Farmers ranks third at the end of six years of state-wide competition for the ten-year trophy donated by former Governor C. C. Young. The chapter also has the distinction of being selected as one of the San Joaquin Valley chapters to be entered in national competition for an outstanding year’s program of work, the winners to be decided next fall in Kansas City. Still further honor was added to the Club’s notable record when Calvin Jones won the state-wide Future Farmers oratorical contest at Los Angeles.
