Change of Cornrnanci Captain Reuben T. Whitaker, a submariner with twenty five years in the fleet and fresh from a tour as skipper of the U.S.S. Neosho, reported aboard on Monday, 2 November to relieve Captain Wylie. Following conferences with his department heads, the new Captain inspected his crew and the entire ship. Then in the traditional change-ot-command ceremony, he exhorted the crew to maintain the standards of performance attained under Captain Wylie. The departing Captain recalled with pride and a touch of sadness the unusual cruises that had marked his tour.
