Tom Matheny, Tom l. IR. High Wins MA Tourney Under the leadership of a new coach, Bobby joe Vann, a graduate of Ma- con Academy and a member of the 1972-73 State Championship Team, . MA's lr. High team streaked to a record of 13-5. Three of these victo- ries came in the MA jr. High Tourna- ment. Barry Thrower and Billy Kitch- ens were named to the All- Tournament Team while Donnie Vann was named the Most Valuable Player. After a loss to Glenwood on the first game after the Christmas holidays, the lr. Knights speeded to a six-game win- ning streak before losing to Spring- wood. The jr. Knights pulled a victory over Lee before losing to the Generals in the District at Springwood. Girls Give Opponents Tough Time With determination and a little experi- ence, the girls basketball team, coached by Frankie Locklar, began the 1974-75 basketball season against Lee on November 25. Although the score was Lee's way, the team didn't get down and came right back to whip Bullock. With the leadership of Seniors Penny Streetman, Lisa McCain, and Vickie Taylor, the girls defeated Chambers twice after a loss to Dixie. After defeating Bullock again, the team concluded the regular season with a 4-7 record. Standing: Mrs. Reda West, Linda Henderson, Sheryl Worrell, Wanda Streetman, Glenda York, Vickie Taylor, Kathy Sistrunk, Crys Hood, Diane Massey, Coach Frankie Locklar, kneeling: Bon- nie Paulk, Kathy Vail, Lynn Long, Lisa McCain, Penny Streetman, Teresa Rotton, Rita Baker, Manager Debra Spratlin. Teresa Rotton makes this layup against a Cham- bers defender. Sheryl Worrell puts up this shot for two points.
