I I SS wm v Sept. 1946: A very attractive group of little tots gathered around Mrs. Grace Yancey in the primary room. Eyes, wide with wonder, gazed upon a new world. These children, timid, half afraid, gradually found their ' places in the Big School and started the twelve year journey. X ' Sept. 1954: Year by year we climbed the educational ladder, grade by grade. The work of the elementary school was finished. The eighth grade commencement was outstanding, the girls were dressed in white, the boys in new suits. Twenty eight received their 8th grade diploma. We look back to our life in the grade school, the teachers were kind and understanding, they helped us when we stumbled and encouraged us onward and upward. Sept. 1954: As freshmen, we were frightened. Everything was strange and different. Instead of one teacher there was the entire high school fa- culty, instead of one class group there was the sneering upperclassmen who seemed to notice all our mistakes, then, the work was so hard that many fell by the wayside. By the close of the 9th grade we had lost, Virginia Bell Holderman, Marion Logue, Donnie Brady, Billy Stumph, Billy White, Betty Hood, Carolyn Settles, Barbara Sallee, Charles lsham, Thelma Mc Michael, Jane lsham, Peggy Ross and Dorothy Settles Sept 1955 At the beginning of our sophomore year there were 17 in our class So distinctly did we remember the treatment given us the year before that we decided to try the same thing on the incoming freshmen We must have been successful for we made them tremble at our power and gasp at our wisdom Sept 1956 The ringing of the school bell revealed the absence of Mary Will Wayne, she had become Mrs Gerald Peavler In November Judy married but continued her school work During this year Louella Hll ton moved away Lorna Ann Hall decided to finish high school an three years William Smock, Gene Noel, and John Hardin stopped school W had one new classmate, Sue Crady Sept 1957 Seniors! Ohl How glorious to be Seniors, but our hearts were agam saddened by the loss of classmates Judy was living in Lexington, Betty Jane had married, Sue Crady had moved away Only two boys and eight girls In lme for diplomas until Angela S Milburn enrolled ln our class Eleven Seniors four married ones, Alfred, Danny, Angela and Judy Seven out of the eleven were first graders in this school Peggy Devine has perfect attendance for eleven years So after years and years of study we reached our goal Together we labored, together we experience the loys of High School Graduation 0'Lfma.. ml.
