Marianna Thomas. co-sponsor lor FHA. described the cluh's ohiectixes as. PE, lternatives Provide Physical Activities as Part Of D aily Curriculum Throughout the year Physical Education served as a basis to provide students with a background in a variety of sports. . Different areas open to participants included aerobics. weightlifting. and archery. PE was fun because you could get all the extra energy out of your system during a long day. affirmed Sophomore Cynthia Krkoska. Although one and one half years of Physical Education had to be taken for those who wished to graduate. alternate courses such as athletics. band. cheerleading. drill team. and ROTC allowed students to earn PE credit as well. Pre-Drill. a new class lead by Cardette Sponsor Pam Willis. proved to be popular among those students who aspired to be Cardettes. '-ss. in-.ff ' If 4 ' dvi? PreDrill taught the girls what they needed to know to preparethemselves for Cardette tryouts in the winter. lt also gavefthem a closer look at what drill team was really about. advocated Cardette Leader Kris McFerren. Sophomore Amy Prater added. I decided to take Pre-Drill because being a Cardette was really important to me and l wanted to prepare for tryouts. While A Pre-Drill prepared future Cardettes to fulfill the PE requirement, ROTC. cheerleading. band. and athletics did the same by competing to support the MacArthur pride. Senior Varsity Cheerleader Polly Amason emphasized.
