THE 6-6 PROGRAM The six year high school was initiated at the start of the 1958-59 school year. The play was a switch from eight years of elementary work to six. The 6-6 plan made it pos- sible to offer a wider selection of courses for all high school students. Under this plan, a greater number of students were able to utilize existing facilities and equipment. Seventh and eighth grade students were, for the first time, using the special facilities of the science department, music department, mathematics department, industrial department, physical education department and the library. This type of program has made it possible to more nearly provide for the special needs and interests of the seventh and eighth grade students.
