The vile rumor that his experiments never worked IS untrue They worked sometimes The study of physics was lubricated by his dry humor murgie the refractive lndex of the cafeterias ham the whistling thistle tubes and all the rest Of course physics under Mr Powell w tsnt all tea and crumpets Many a class that had gotten out of hand was quickly and firmly returned to the fold by a hery lecture Mr Powells powers of oratlon can not be over looked by inyone who knows him We all have at one time or another been spellbound chagrined and cl :ted by a Pow ell oratron Many of us similarly have been enthralled by Mr Powells ptanistic talent He plays with the same fervor as he orates Our class and all the classes to follow have Mr Powell to thank for the formation of the schools first intellectual society Iota was formed under the auspices of Mr Powell and Mr Langberg and has been molded by their competent guidance In its first two years it has been most successful For all these for your teaching your guidance your inspiring example and your sincere interest in us all we the class of 59 gtye you our thanks Mr Pow ell by dedicating this yearbook to you 0 O O I I A ' .
