I was trying to take some paper from the drawer. Xlifell-I :waded it! I guess I remember Miss Smith pretty much, too. She was viciously cool, Especially on that tricky poem about some old sailor. But the wasnt the wildest. Miss Anderson kept insisting we eat good breakfasts and when we did, we didn't keep 'em long. Some of those dissections! Echhh!! The rest of our science teachers were real forward looking, too. Mr, Powell was the first fand onlyl teacher in the United States to use the MAD system of weights and measures. He did it mainly to improve the results of his class demonstrations. Thanks to Mr. Carr, we've got an empty medicine cabinet and the family is substituting roots and berries. That Sassafras! Echhh! All in all, though, I guess we had a pretty good time in class. One thing I'll never forget is Miss Slauson cha-chaing to Bill Horner and his Irra- tional Roots playing the 'Sine-Cosine Cha-Cha-Chaf We were really out in left field that year. What? Oh yeah-Class Nite. VC'e're probably the only class to ever finish last twice in a row, That wasn't our fault, though, Split session faked us out in our sophomore year by only throwing two other classes against us. First year we managed to 'sing some more of Irving Ber- Iin's songs' but we still finished out of the money by a swift 202 points. We didnt win an event. We improved and next year only lost by 2-I5 points, but we did win decorations. Finished third tlast againy. Last year with winter as our theme, we rose to the glorious height of second place! We lost by 212123 points. That's a little better, I guess, but not Q. 9359 9

We strode to fan- tastic pinnacles above the other classes, winning skit, cheering, cheering costumes, and five sports. We won by a fantabulous 77 points Cunder a new scoring systeml showing our ecstatic superiority. It was a wild night. Yeah, we had a play, Two of 'em. The first one was out of it. Fairy tale type. Wfitches and all that jazz. Mrs. McTl9ing. or somethinf Senior play was cool. It was called The Man Who Ctmze lo Dinner. They'll never forget that one. We had some Proms, too. You know, big dance type. Also cool. Went over pretty big. We even made some money on them. Sports? Mmmm. Our frosh team, basketball that is. was, like, champ type. This year basketball, football, and baseball were all champ teams, being naturally mostly composed of seniors. Wild type year when it came to that. Yeah, really wild. We were pretty proud of them guys. Let's see. 'Sthere anything else? I could say something about the U.N. trip, but I won't. You know, in our senior year we had the biggest mag sales in quite a while. Pulled in almost two thousands of bucks, l think. I can't let you go without mentioning the top brass. joe Papa stalwartly led us through our first two, then one Cleven took over for the last two. The boys did .1 pretty fine job, looking back on it. 'look around. Youll find most of this stuff explained in the book better than l could. By the way, what do you think of it? A A 55 y Viaito yd A A9 ' A f' la Nfl, 5 ': ., N.,,f
