BAND AND MAJORETTES Lynbrook High can certainly say that its band was tops this year. Under the direction of Mr. Robert Borst the band again presented snappy formations at the home football games. Last year they didn't appear because of the lack of members and uniforms, but this fall the Band was indeed something to look at, with new bright green uniforms trimmed with gold. The highlights of the year included playing at the night game in Long Beach, meeting Santa Claus when he came to Lynbrook, marching in the Decor- ation Day parade and, finally, giving the Spring Concert, for which the Band worked hard all year. The officers of the Band were as follows: Presi- dent, Alex Stewartg Vice-president, Willard McCoy, Secretary, Ronald Friedman. Of course, we shall never forget the wonderful twirling the majorettes did at the football games! They surely made a fine appearance heading the band in their new green and gold satin uniforms. Ann Potter did a fine job of leading her fellow majorettes - Marilyn Berger, Norma Brownson, Dolores Lapin, Grace Nebiosini, and Carolyn Williams. Besides keeping up the spirit at the football games, these girls gave some fine exhibitions of twirling at the Spring Concert and during the Santa Claus Memorial Day parades. ' '- i sslv - N tsl PLAY, FIDDLE, PLAY Under the able leadership of Mr. Borst, the Lyn- brook High School Orchestra has progressed tre- mendously during the past year. It now contains five saxaphones, two trombones, three trumpets, a drum and a piano. Since it is such a compact and efficient unit, it has been able to provide the music for the Junior and Senior plays, and for all assemblies held by the high school. Another highlight in their musical year was the performance of selected compositions at the annual high school commencement in June. For the great amount of time and effort this hard-working group devotes to its job, it deserves much credit. Front: Benjamin, Katz, Weiss, Baldassarre, But- ler.
