Papers flying, last minute items being rewritten, new cartoons being thought up and redone, but we made it. Then we sat and waited, wondering, ever wondering if it would turn out as we had hoped and planned. Time seemed to have slowed down as we anticipated the final publicationg but the day came, the books arrived, and were distributed among the students. Now it is our hope that this yearbook will be cherished as 00315 LESLIE a remembrance of our class-the Senior Class of 1950. ar 5 vv- RUTH KNAACK Assistant Editor 6 LINDA JOHNSON DOLORES LOBENCE com SCHAEFER An Editor Typing Edlwr Class Editor E' t 'wi 5 , -3 x - 1 .lg JAMES BIRDSALL MR. X' ,cf iq if ff ll? r 1, X 5 BAND AND MAJORETTES Lynbrook High can certainly say that its band was tops this year. Under the direction of Mr. Robert Borst the band again presented snappy formations at the home football games. Last year they didn't appear because of the lack of members and uniforms, but this fall the Band was indeed something to look at, with new bright green uniforms trimmed with gold. The highlights of the year included playing at the night game in Long Beach, meeting Santa Claus when he came to Lynbrook, marching in the Decor- ation Day parade and, finally, giving the Spring Concert, for which the Band worked hard all year. The officers of the Band were as follows: Presi- dent, Alex Stewartg Vice-president, Willard McCoy, Secretary, Ronald Friedman. Of course, we shall never forget the wonderful twirling the majorettes did at the football games! They surely made a fine appearance heading the band in their new green and gold satin uniforms. Ann Potter did a fine job of leading her fellow majorettes - Marilyn Berger, Norma Brownson, Dolores Lapin, Grace Nebiosini, and Carolyn Williams. Besides keeping up the spirit at the football games, these girls gave some fine exhibitions of twirling at the Spring Concert and during the Santa Claus Memorial Day parades. ' '- i sslv - N tsl PLAY, FIDDLE, PLAY Under the able leadership of Mr. Borst, the Lyn- brook High School Orchestra has progressed tre- mendously during the past year. It now contains five saxaphones, two trombones, three trumpets, a drum and a piano. Since it is such a compact and efficient unit, it has been able to provide the music for the Junior and Senior plays, and for all assemblies held by the high school. Another highlight in their musical year was the performance of selected compositions at the annual high school commencement in June. For the great amount of time and effort this hard-working group devotes to its job, it deserves much credit. Front: Benjamin, Katz, Weiss, Baldassarre, But- ler. The growth of the chorus in the past two years is shown by the fact that one hun- dred and one students are now members. Sixty- five of these voices form the Mixed Chorus. The remaining thirty-six are girls who form the Girls, Chorus. The accompianists, Clara Ann Juddson, Richard Snyder, and Arthur House, played an important part in the successful programs, among which were the Christmas Candlelight Service, Fall Assembly, WHLI radio tape recordings, May Concert, an operatic concert given at the Adelphi College, and Commencement. Mrs. W'right, with the help of a student com- mittee, gave the students a chance to sing solos, and the five soloists were Clara Ann juddson, Lillian Lengel. We'd never seen such an immense building! And all we heard was up the front stairs and down the back. Everything was so new including Class Nite. in which we tied the Sophomores with Un the Board- walk in Atlantic City. This seemed to be our hardest year. But again in Class Nite we held our place with The Future as our theme, but it seemed odd to have it in December. With many of our boys' participation. Lynbroolos baseball team won the championship. B the time this ear was uion us we realized Y Y - l -how fast our four years were going. For many years our football team had been in there trying to beat South Side. This year we gained a moral victory, a 7-7 tie. We had our first prom, Winter Wonderland , which was most successful and quite surprisingly so. Then the exams began to stiffen, for by this time we were getting a taste of Regents. Our first chance to show our talent came when we presented Strange Boardersf' It was a hit! It seems that when you become a Junior your chief aim at Class Nite is to come in first. And so at the half we l6'New Yorkvl were leading by 11 points. What spirit! What a class! We came in second! Our year of years! This was when we began to realize how much LHS means to us. During football season our boys really put up a splendid fight and we were proud of them for it! Full of wit and fun was our Senior Play Meet Me in St. Louis. Ever taken a history exam? Was ours tough! Our basketball team was one terrific squad of boys. There are no words that can possibly explain our Senior Class Nite and our mascot Fuss in Bootsf, Again we had an A-1 baseball team. Could they slug 'eml Maybe we're slightly prejudiced but on the first of ,Iune our 0wl', with pages of originality was issued. Oh, it was magnificent! The girls in their beautiful formals and boys tux looked spiffie for this memorable event. Graduation! Some look happy Some shed tears But none will forget four wonderful years! 59 Sl'Il l'.. 1946 MAl1Cll. 1947 SEPT.. 191-T DEC., 1947 J1'NE, 1948 SEPT.. 1940 OCT.. 1948 DEC., 1940 JAN., 1949 FEB., 1949 MA RCH. 1949 SEPT., 1949 OCT.- NOV., 1949 DEC., 1949 JAN., 1950 FEB.- MARCH, 1950 MARCH, 1950 JUNE, 1950 Jl'NE, 1950 JUNE. 1950 .l1'NE. 1950 MARILYN CAROL ABEL Come ram come shme be nt day or mght Whenever you see her she looks just nght FOR Pretzels soronty meetmgs AGAINST Tlme llmlls ln Mlestens COMMENT Isnt that funny BEST REMEMBERED DATE Class Nlte Cheermg FAVORITE SPORT Bowling HOBBIES Collecung records horseback ndmg drlvmg 1'-Ll TERESA AJOSA Terry Terrys got wzt and plenty of brrun Thats how .she makes many I1 gum FOR Mr Carr AGAINST Solld Geometry tests COMMENT Oh Snyder BEST REMEMBERED DATE October 3 FAVORITE SPORT Badminton HOBBIES Tutoring collecting records drlvlng kmttlng 2 ia.
