ESTHER FLANAGAN Chubby For two seasons, 1932 and 1933, Esther was a member of the ' ls' varsity baseball team. During her first year at Lynbrook iligh, she connected with the Dramatic Club, and played on the basketball team. Business RICHARD D. FOREST Dick After attending New Jersey and Valley Stream High Schools, Dick finally settled down in Lynbrook High for his junior and senior years. Engrossed mainly in science as operator of Ama- gefxr Radio Station W2J1J, he joined both Science and Radio ubs. Commercial Radio operalor and Technician BETTY FYME Belly Coming from East Rockaway Junior High School in 1933, Betty continued to devote a great deal of energy to outdoor exercise. She engaged in skating, hiking, tennis, bicycle riding, and in the gymnasium, intramural basketball. Business Curly MARIE F. GLEASON Marie came to Lynbrook High from Woods Avenue School, in East Rockaway. There she took part in the sports of baseball and soccer. In Lynbrook she chose for her career that of a secre- tary, preparing for it with a business co1u'se. Business School Bindy BAIRD GOULD In sports, Baird took up intramural football, basketball and track, serving also in the capacity of manager for varsity basket- ball. Bea BEATRICE ANN'E'l'I'E ELTERMAN Bea's patience was rewarded when, after practising industriously every afternoon, she made varsity ping pong. In addition, she was an aquatic member, a tennis player, an archer, and a student of photography in the Camera Club. Adelphi College Ev IRWIN EVANS Irwin ranked as one of the finest scholars of the class of 1936. Aside from studies he was active in the intramural program, giving his attention to football, baseball and basketball, not to mention handball and archery. College Shirl SHIRLEY EVANS The Archery Club claimed Shirley's interest for the entire folu' seasons. She was a member of the Roller Skating Club in 1934, and 1935, and she went out for girls' swimming and tennis in the spring of 1936. FANCHER Jan When riding, hiking, bowling, basketball and H1 Y work didn t claim her attention, Janice contributed in several ways to art work. She was on the Class Night decoration committee for four years and was cormected with the art department of the yearbook staff. Traphagen School of Fashion VIRGINIA FISHER ln Gin established herself as a member of the Hiking Club In her freshman year and remained in that group throughout high school. Harney HELEN V. Gnu Outside of her business course, Helen was interested mainly in sports. She was a member of the intramural basketball team and the Ping Pong Club. The Roller Skating Club also found in her an enthusiastic member during her last two years. Business Sis MARY EaNEs'r1NE GRAF In freshman and sophomore years, Mary's after school efforts were concentrated in swimming. Within the next two years she folmd intramural basketball and bowling more to her taste. To gieie she added as social activities Glee Club and Marionette College The Grik HENRY GREENSTEIN Henry's athletic accomplishments were many as a member of the boys' swimming, wrestling, track, and archery teams. His social activities included the Dramatic Club, Press Club, and Science Club, the last of which he was president for two years. College DAVID IRA Gain-EN CHU Grifl ' took part in wrestling, JayVee football and intramural baseball for several years. In 1933 he belonged to the Archery Club, and he was an active member of the Boys' Hi-Y for two years. Business ELISABETH HALLENBECK Belly A business course occupied the major part of Betty's time in Lynbrook High School. In this field she favored typing. But for variety she added a year each of art and sewing and in 1935, membership in the Hiking Club. Business i231
