The School of Nursing pin or insignia embraces and combines the Greek cross, rose wreath, open book, and the letters L.H .S .N. The cross, in red, is symbolic of un- selfish service and love of one's fellowman and is the emblem of relief of sick and wounded. The rose, in gold, signifies the goodness of God, and is indicative of Messianic promise and human love . The trilobate lotus wreath is representative of esteem, honor, and merit. The open book signifies the Word of God. The letters L .H .S .N . denotes the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing . 4
