Specialties s
Refinement and specialization are
characteristic of the junior year, as
they begin building upon the foundations
acquired earlier . Total patient care
gives them a more rounded view of the
patient and the full work week acquaints
them with hospital procedures .

ACTIVITIES
Bound together by nursing, social ac-
tivities added another dimension to our
personalities . At the Big Sis-Little Sis
party, class comediennes were recog-
nized and applauded .
Christmas parties were abundant, but
the student body social committee made
this unique by proving that Santa is the
spirit of Dr. Acker.
Taking advantage of the relaxed dress
policies, we wore slacks to many func-
tions, but welcomed the opportunity to
dress up for the dinner dance, An En-
chanted Evening in March .
We grew together through these ac-
tivities, storing memories of them for
years to come.

FACULTY A D
ADMINISTRATIO
Guiding students through new exper-
iences and then helping them become
proficient, the faculty embodied our
ideals. We adapted their technique and
found ourselves striving to meet their
Standards .
With their encouragement the senior
class revised the evaluation forms in
useg then awaited a verdict on their
efficiency.
Off the clinical area they joined us as
we laughed, advised us as we planned,
and listened to our problems .
Advisors, instructors, confidents, and
friends, the faculty assumed a leading
role in our student functions .

STUDENTS
We are one in the spirit, We are one
in the Lord voices rang out during
vesper services. We were one!
Our clothes barely unpacked the first
day, personality traits were recognized
and remembered . Knowing each other's
special talents, we sought each other
out and gained from them .
Each class had its funny girl , its
cheerer -uppers , and its helper .
We fussed at times but We remained
loyal,
We functioned as a school, as a class,
and as ourselves .

DQRM LIFE
Organization made the process of mov-
ing the freshmen in much easier, and
clothes were no sooner hanging in clos-
ets than the song Three hundred days
and we will graduate rang through the
halls .
The freshmen were now bona fide dorm
dwellers. Juniors and seniors snugly in
bed by ten wondered how the freshmen
could stand late hours. The freshmen
in turn wondered why upperclassmen
slept after duty. But we soon adjusted.
Dorm life is relieved by laughter after
a final, vespers by candlelight, grab-
bing hands during scarey shows, birth-
day parties, and saying good-bye.

The School of Nursing pin or insignia embraces and combines the Greek cross, rose
wreath, open book, and the letters L.H .S .N. The cross, in red, is symbolic of un-
selfish service and love of one's fellowman and is the emblem of relief of sick and
wounded. The rose, in gold, signifies the goodness of God, and is indicative of
Messianic promise and human love .
The trilobate lotus wreath is representative of esteem, honor, and merit.
The open book signifies the Word of God.
The letters L .H .S .N . denotes the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing .

The circle complete from start to finish another class of
graduates depart from LHSN amid laughter, sighs of re-
lief, and sadness. No longer secure behind the protective
label of student nurse we leave these hallsg fearful yet
confident that we have achieved a goal.
We leave a sincere wish for continued success and un-
ending happiness to those who remain.
