About a year ago Lutheran I-hgh Crusaders
adopted TI-IE CRUSADER S CALL In pr1nc1p1e
th1s call was nothmg new just a restatement
of God s commandments as g1ven thousands of

spec1f1c It 1S to be a pr1vate challenge to LHS
to meet th1s challenge and be worthy of the
name Crusader However as our h1gh school
days come to a close we want everyone to know
that we 1ntend ever to be true Crusaders by
11v1ng a hfe pleasmg to our Sav1or 1n thought
word and deed Therefore we w1sh to ded1cate
th1S record ofthe past year to THE CRUSADER S

Get your COURIEIR in your last hour class today. This
means another job well done by the Journalism Class. Weeks
of writing, editing, rewriting, and typing news, sports, and
fashion articles along with the jokes have resulted in the
school paper. The COURIER Staff, working under the direc-
tion of Mr. John Grundmann, Horst Goede, and Phil Stephan,
has given LHS a school paper of which to be proud.

Oh! it's a strike, You're sure to get aspare,
or It's a perfect split, are only a few of the
expressions heard on Tuesday afternoons at
the Delmar Lanes. To get 35 rollers to knock
down 100 pins in frames is the effort of Mr.
Robert Oestreich and his Bowling Club.

Four competent officers
Mrs. Lois Vogelsmeier, commander-in-chief
When mixed together you have FHA fFuture
Home-makers of Americal. At Christmas, these
girls send cookies to the Altenheim and fill
stockings for the Red Cross. They also enjoy
taffy pulls and a mother-daughter banquet. They
hope to make clothes for needy children. All
students who have taken or who are taking
Home Economics are welcome.
L IBRARIANS with experience are pretty much
in demand in college as well as public libra-
ries. These girls are getting experience.
A ID for Mr. Sachtleben is also in great demand.
Books checked in and out, shelved, and tra-
ced are jobs done by these students.
C OURTEISY is shown to all by the seven mem-
bers of the Library Assistants' Club.

Every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Kingfish,
Mr. Paul Walwick, and the rest of the water lovers
plunge into the YMHA pool to practice up on their
diving skills and swimming strokes. Both the begin-

and Christian fellowship in this club.

Only six industrialists and a master craftsman compose the
Industrial Arts Club. On almost any day after school the
buzzing of a saw or the pounding of a hammer invite you to
the school shop where six busy beavers built a small gaso-
line motor, a fluorescent desk lamp, a bowling pin table
lamp, a wine bottle table lamp, and some small cages for the
biology classes under the able leadership of Mr. Frank
Hoppe.
Christian service is the theme of the Mission Club under
the guidance of Mr. Frank Colba. Every Wednesday is spent
at the Altenheim cheering up the old folks. On Saturdays,
attention is tumed toward the Good Samaritian Mission.
Letters are also sent to missionaries and get well cards, to
sick LHS students. The only reward reaped is the warm
feeling within.

A beautiful picture with fourteen brilliant colors came
into being last October xmder the deft hand of Miss
Nancy Altvater. Once each week, these colors blend
together under the guidance of the chief artist, in order
to paint, sculpture, make jewelry or engrave trays. By
blending together in this manner, they are painting a
rosy picture of the Art Club in the eyes of all con-
cerned with LHS
From a mysterious machine to a snowy white screen,
a motion pictire, a film strip, slides, or even a Still
pictire are projected. To provide an audio visual ser-
vice program to the classroom is the object of the
Projector Club. Under the capable assistance of Mr.
Carl Sachtleben, eighteen boys solve problems con-
cerning the upkeep and operation of this valuable
equipment in their by-monthly meetings.

As the Scribe took notes and the Ruler presided, Mr. Ervin Leimer watched over the 26 lettermen who plan-
ned activities for their sports night. This honorary athletic club is made up of those fellows who have
received a varsity letter in basketball, baseball, football, or tennis.
Once a week Lutheran High School's sharp-shooters get together in order to discuss, compare, and learn
new rifle techniques. This enthusiastic group of approximately 30 has for its leader Mr. John Pfitzer. Com-
petition between teams from such schools as C.B.C. and St. Louis U. High furnish a real bang for the
members.

In 1ts fourth year of 1nter scholastlc competltxon the LHS tenms team under Coach Carl Napler drew
almost fxfty boys durlng the flrst week of practmce Due to overcrowded cond1t1ons the experlenced
varslty players often had to practloe ln Forest Park while the B team learned more fundamentals 1n
the schoolyard from Coach Napler and Mr L,ou1s Schroer Slnce all but one player from last years
successful season returned the netmen and all LHS expected a brlght season

With an early start in conditioning and hard practice, Mr. Doering's baseball squad
proved ready for their neavy 16-game schedu e. The schedule included games with
U. City, Maplewood, Normandy, Burroughs, Principia, Country Day, De Andries,
C.B.C, McKinley, and Roosevelt. The team also entered the state tournament. A
farm system with the B team has strengthened the squad, and should continue to
build better teams in the future.

Our fourth and flnal year at LHS IS now passed It dldnt pass though w1thout the thrllls
we had long planned for
On September 17 we began very enthuslastically by electlng our class officers Later
we held our senior party at the Downtown Y on November 26 Soon after Ch.l'1StlTl8S a
strange feellng came over us only a half year to go We then realized more fully how
qu1ckly movie mghts partxes the banquet and so on Semor Camp will always br1ng
back fond memorxes of LHS What a swell t1me we had at Ouatoga May 16 17' The Bac
claureate servlce at Holy Cross May 31 was also a blg event The b1ggest mght though
was June 3 graduation How we received our treasured dlplomas and dlsplayed our
whlte carnatlons with prlde' In our ears was r1ng1ng our last remembrance of learnlng at
