We all realize that God has delegated some of His guiding powers to certain
people of His church on earth. Here at LHS we may easily see the evidence of
this delegated power in our principal. Dr. Lange has a tremendous responsibility,
but has met the challenge successfully at every turn. The success achieved by
our school in only six years of existence is a grand tribute to the work of our
wonderful principal.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE M. Haake, L. Seibel,
N. Young, M. Krehmeyer, Mr. Colba, W. Thomason, R
Thiemann, C. Westerhold.
To aid the administration of our school is
the purpose of the Student Council. This
group of elected student representatives,
under the guidance of Mr. Colba and Mr.
Pfitzer, help Dr. Lange and the other heads
of LHS in the running of our school, partic-
ularly from the student end. Notable among
the Council's work this year were such pro-
jects as Tours Day, the Convention of Lutheran
High Schools' student councils, the Lake-
Waterman stop sign, and many other small,
but important details.

The journalistic abilities of many seniors are put to full use
in the production of the school's annual yearbook, the Crusader.
There is much work to be done in putting out such a fine book,
such as selling, writing, typing, classifying and checking,
photographing, and many other equal and hard tasks. These
different jobs keep the approximately 25 people of the staff
hopping from October to April. But that one day in May, when
the books are given out, is well worth all the trouble.

Strike up the band! Under the able leadership
of Mr. Bayer, L.utheran's band played to en-
thusiastic listeners at football and basketball
games. There's something about that peppy
march music that can't help but give added
stimulus to the cheering section. And then,
there were the Clean-Up Parade' and annual
Band Concert too.
Along with the band at most of its performances
are the six majorettes. During their practice
sessions after school they work up routines and
practice twirling. For public appearances these
girls dress up in their maroon and white cos-
tumes and white boots, and strut their stuff.

The highlight of the '51 season was the Accident Benefit game played with DuBourg. The result of the game
was the only victory for LHS in a 1-6 football season. Despite a rather unsuccessful outcome, the team
spirit remained high throughout the entire year. And the outlook for the coming years is bright with the
response of the lower classmen coming out for the teams.
