dl We,the Senior Class of Lucas High School, City of Lucas, County of Richland, Commonwealth of the State of Ohio, being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish, and declare, this our last will and testament, in the manner as follows: We, as the Seniors, leave the following to the remaining classes: To the Juniors, weleave the time, work, and fun of working for our wonderful trip. We also leave to you the pleasure of having Mr. Hauck as friend and ad- visor. To the Sophomores,we leave our ability to miss class without getting caught. To the Freshmen, we leave the best years of your life, your last three years of school, in hopes you enjoy them as we did. To the Teachers,who have put up with all our whims and gripes, we bequeath as follows: To Mr. Barger, we leave one broken adding machine and the extra thousand dollars the Seniors made and had no use for, to do with it as he see's fit. To Mr. Hauck, our advisor, we leave our deepest appreciation for the help he has given us through our most difficult year and a new chair for his office. To Miss Ticschinger, we leave the problem of arranging more wonderful Junior-Senior proms, and our thanks for her help in our Junior year. To Mr. Strohmengeigwe leave all the torn choir music and all the silly ideas for community sings, in hopes he drags in all the cabbage. To Mrs. Cushman, we leave Shakespeare and other writers in hope the on- coming Seniors give them a chance. To Mr.Manierre, we leave a banged Chevrolet, a few idear's, and a little bit of everythin'. Russell Leiter leaves his athletic ability and height to Beverly Connor. Sandy Metcalf leaves all her freckles to Darrell Niswander. Naomi Markham leaves her curly hair and dimples to Gary Pollard. pwkw It was April 29, 1969, and I was going on a vacation trip to Mars. The space .ship, The Wanda Lou, named for a friend of mine Wanda Arnett, whose husband is the manager of T.S.A. ftranslation--Trans Solar Air- lines, was waiting for me. At the office window Nancy Tryon, who was now an efficientcareer woman, sold me a ticket. As I picked up my lug- gage, Irealized Ihad anhour before take-off time. I then decided to step into the restaurant for a cup of coffee. Ijust happened to glance at the sign which read Janet'sJunk House . Then it hit me that this was Janet Winters'home office. She has restaurants all over the Universe. I gave the waiter, who was Howard Russell, my card to give to Janet. When Howard returned with Janet we talked of old times in Lucas, and Janet told me that Thomas Kurtz and James Goodnight are now running Mala- bar Farm. Time passed so' quickly that my ship was warmed up by the time I said goodbye to my friends. Going up the gang plank, I recognized Naomi Markham, the steward- ess, and Delmar Russell the pilot. I hope Dub can drive this plane bet- ter thanhe did his car. As Isat down I screamed with delight, for across the aisle were Sue Moore and Jean Jones. After all the silly girlish talk, Sue told me she was going to Mars to open a new branch of Moore 8: Moore Pontiac Corporation, and Jean was going to enter the Miss Universe beauty contest. Oh! I forgot to mention that Carolyn Hilton is the owner of this airline. As Sue, Jean, and I talked to Naomi we were whizzing through the air at the speed of light, thanks to Leonard Haring, who designed this ship. The trip was too short and we had so many things to talk over that we de- cided to meet in the cocktail lounge of the McCready Hotel. Of course I knew that Bob McCready and Dawe McKinley owned the largest hotel on Mars. Whenlwalked down the gang plank I noticed a big petroleum truck with these letters on the side. Larry Hammett-Greatest Petroleum in the Solar system. Sue said she would drop me at the hotel, which was very kind of her. Riding through the city in one of Sue's best Pontiacs I saw a familiar sign Lomax General Store managed by Marge Smith. I told Sue we would have to stop and see Marge. She agreed. Then as darkness fell over Mars Cityabig sign lit up reading McCready 8: Lowe Furniture. I knew without asking who this was. Bidding Sue goodbye I started for the Hotel. Passinganews standlpicked up a copy of the Mars City Local, the larg- est newspaper in the orbit, and I wasn't surprised to find it edited by Kenny Sherman, who did a good job on our school annual. On the front was Bernie Harvey's picture, he is running for president of the Solar system again. I hope he wins this time. On the next page I read that a fire at the Gretten and Thomas Tire Co. was extinguished by fire chief Clark Weirick. 19
