Class History In September of '40, there were thirty-eight starry eyed youngsters who had awaited anxiously six long years to start that big day of school. The minute the first bell rang we all rushed in to greet our new teacher, Mamie Duncan. Under the inspiring guidance of Miss Duncan we learned the usual reading, Writing and arithmetic. Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. Weatherbee, Mrs. Mowers, Mrs. Barger, Miss Blust, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Hoffman guided us through our first eight years. Little did we realizle how important the training was that these excellent teachers gave us in the formative days of our lives. However through their patience, understanding and guidance we were at last ready for Study Hall. Along the way through these eight years we lost twenty-two of the original members but added fourteen making a total of thirty when we entered high school As we came to be Freshmen our class was divided. The girls were under the direction of Miss Boka and the boys under Mr. I-Ietrick. Nothing too unusual or exciting happened that we can remember. One or two parties were the highlights of the year. The class united in choosing the following as officers: President ........... Sandra Mack Vice President ..... Robert Switzer Secretary ...... Patricia Thompson Treasurer ........... Stanley Snow As we advanced and became Sophomores we still had a divided class. The boys remained under Mr. Hetrick and the girls under Miss Titschinger. The boys weren't as fortunate as the girls because we lost two of our members, Robert Stewart and Leland Wright while all girls remained. I guess the most irnportant event of the Sophomore year was serving for the Junior and Senior Banquet. The following were chosen as officers: President .......... Burdette Barr Vice President ...... William Harvey Secretary ....... Dorothy Campbell Treasurer ........ Kathleen Kohler In our junior year under our advisor Mrs. Hoffman, we gained four new classmates and lost six. Among those that came were Marlene and Maxine Finnell. And later on during the year we added Robert Goff and Robert Snyder. Donald Sauder and Stanley Snow also left us between Sophomore and Junior year, Sandra Mack, Helen Snyder, Dorothy Campbell, Mary Lou DeVore and Roy Fyffe quit during the year. All year long we worked for the Junior Prom which was a big success. With a South Sea Theme , a lowered ceiling and tropical island sunset, we danced to the music of Nels Blocker. Life of the Party our first play, was a great experience with all twenty-seven members participating. At the end of the Junior year we had a farewell party for our beloved advisor, Mrs. Hoffman. ,
