Class History Thirty-five little first graders started out in the first grade in 1939. Of these original ones, the following are graduating this year: Paul Culler, Gerald McMil1en, Patrick O'Connell, Robert Zody, Loretta Arnold, Wanda Berry, Janet Flenner, Patricia O'Connell, Patricia Jones, Joann Robinson, Janet Rummel, Shirley Russell and Robert Bye rly. David Scott was in the first grade, but left before 1940. Patricia Campbell joined us in the second year. ln the third grade, Donald Smith and Fanchon Mack joined the ranks. The fourth grade didn't add any more of the present Seniors to the list. In the fifth grade Charles Doggett entered alone. The sixth grade added Helen Trumpower, Jerry Niswander, Kathryn Roberts and Alice Franklin. With the addition of these members, the seating capacity crowded out all games, leaving Kathryn to peer around the map. Floyd Van Meter came next andlreceived his nickname Van the first day. We realized we were growing up by the beginning of the eighth grade when we were allowed to go to Study Hall. James Bucher, Richard Berger and Robe rt Grover entered. ln the Freshman year the boys enjoyed seeing the girls during F.H.A. Those burlap sacks were kind of scratchy. The sidewalks got a good scrubbing with handy toothbrushes. At Christmas we had a party in the Study Hall with Miss Russell and Mr. Hetrick attending. We exchanged gifts and usually the girls got the boys' names and visa versa. The boys Qmostlyj found yellow scarfsg the girls perfume. The class officers for that year were: President ........ . . Floyd Van Meter Vice-President . . . . Charles Doggett Secretary ..... . . Jerry Niswander Treasurer .... . . .Robert Byerly News Reporter . . . . . . . . . . Fanchon Mack In the Sophomore year, early in the second six weeks, Rebecca Moore, our golden haired gal, left us far behind. Lester is taking over now. The class offi- cers for that year were: President . . . . . Charles Doggett Vice-President. . . . . . Rose Fanello Secretary-Treasurer. . . . . . Wanda Berry David Scott came back to us in the eleventh grade, Our memory of him was very dim. All year we worked for something Qfundsl. What for? Junior Prom, of course. With a dreamy theme Moonlight and Roses , a lowered ceiling and a rose garden, Qwith a gold fish, and an out of the world banquetg who could ask for more ? Our first play was a real experience. The name of it was Heroes Just Happen . All twenty-eight members participated to make the play a success. For Junior officers we chose: President, Charles Doggettg Vice-President, Jerry Niswander, Secretary-Treasurer, Janet Rummel, News Reporter, Robert Grover. Z3

Pat O'Connel1 leaves his Irish temper and his bets on paid by Jean McCready. Notre Dame to Dave Scott wills his smooth technique with girls to Ronnie Schrack. Helen Trumpower leaves a challenge of getting an engagement ring to those Junior girls who haven't acquired them yet, Patty O'Conne1l leaves her happy-go-lucky attitude and jolly disposition to Janet Russell. Joann Robinson leaves her secret of how to keep her hair in place and make-up straight to Bud Barr. Bill Partin leaves all the time he has spent in class drawing pin-up girls to Tom Baughman and hopes he will put it to as good use. Bob Zody leaves his good nature and well-liked personality to Pat Thompson who really doesn't need it. Alice Franklin is just glad she's leaving and hopes everyone enjoys high school as much as she has. We do hereby name and appoint on this fifteenth day of May in the year of our lord one thousand nine hundred fifty-one Ql951j, Mrs. Martha Farry as the sole executor of this our last will and testament, Class Song of SI From this high school we are going, Yet here fond mem'ries will dwell, We are now all graduating Wishing all you comrades well There is much for hearts to say On this graduation day. Farewell to you our comrades You have made our years so grand Farewell to you our teachers Always the re to lend a hand With our sad and dewy eyes We will say our last good-byes. A picnic at the Lucas Park highlighted the end of the Junior year. Never was there such a hot contest between ball teams as the one we had that evening. Everyone enjoyed the hot dogs, and the yummy cakes, with the old faithful Jones potato chips and pop. Adding to enthusiasm were our chaperones, Charles and Martha Farry, and Tom and Isabelle Hoffman. On Labor Day, most of the Seniors took a trip to a church not far from Lucas. That Sunday was the day of Rose Fanello's wedding. Although we miss her we know she's very happy with Clarence Harris. We, the 5l Seniors, couldn't believe we were actually going to start our last year. We didn't look much different, taller maybe. ' Like all Seniors, we decided to be gold-diggers. Objective--a trip. This we attempted by selling candy and cakes and various other means! E 5 Most everyone has given out his pictures and name cards. The United States Navy has a part of the Sl Seniors. Jerry heard the call and answered. We miss you, Jerry, With two six-weeks periods facing us, our main thought is graduation, then, of course, commencement, and the last week we'll all be together, our trip. During this all important year we elected as officers: President . . . . . . . . . . . . . Robert Grover Vice-President . . Robert Zody Secretary. . . . . Janet Rummel Treasurer. , . .Wanda Berry Respectfully submitted, Wanda Berry 24
