How We're Organized The administration which governs Lubbock Senior High School is made up of the Board of Education, the Faculty, and the Student Council. The Board consists of eight members, including Dr. I . T. Hutchin- son, president, and Mr. A. C. Jackson, business manager. Members are chosen by city election. Every two years, three members are run for election or re-election. There are 57 faculty members in Lubbock High, headed by Mr. R. W. Matthews, superintendent, and Mr. Floyd Honey, principal. These teachers instruct students in some 61 offered courses. The Student Council was set up as a means of offering the student body a way of participating in their own school government. It is composed of a president, vice-president, and secretary plus the officers elected by each of the three classes. The school board is the policy-forming organization of the school system. The superintendent strives at all times to carry out the school board's policies. He works through the faculty to accomplish his pur- poses. While the student council is primarily to offer the student an opportunity of participating in the functions of the school, it also aids the superintendent and faculty in carrying out the policies of the school board. In the following pages the staff has tried to bring you a record of your governing bodies this year.
