Calm through storm and Chau- cer, witty Oleta Stewart answers telephones, makes up actors, and commands pledges all at once! With a lift of her eyebrows, she can work wonders. What a girl! A hush spreads ooer the auditorium as student-body president Ray Simmons walks on stage. The spon- taneous applause that fol- lows shows the feeling of admiration the student body has for that witty, always-joking 'Simmons' . Oh-oh! Harold Franklin Stony Wall has fallen over again, this time into the midst of a pile of work, which soon melts away from the heat of his ener- getic mind. C , '1 . Work! At this word oioacious, popular Gloria Nooak,s ears prick up, and from then on things fly in the pub office as the 1946 WESTERNEH editor sees that things are properly done.

Irish lingo rings from the stage as likable Billie Hutchings ap- pears in scenes from the senior play. Known for these type roles she's also known for her excellent grades and eyjziciency as Westernaire manager. Brains and personality com- bine in Ken Hancock, a Wester- ner known throughout Lubbock High for his excellent grades and steadfast dependability. He hopes not, what with all the calories he uses, anyway. When well-liked George Morris ap- pears, L. H. S. students know something is sure to be accom- plished. Peppy Charlotte Scoggin is a combination of beauty and personality, rare char- acteristics. Cheering the Westerners on to victory through rain or shine, she has been cheerleader of her class for the last two years.

Dependable as the 8:53 o,clock bell, ,lack Alderson -the guy with the engag- ing smile-is called upon to do all sorts of things. Maybe it's his burr haircut that makes him so popular. Red hair and all the vitality that goes with itl' That de- scribes Bo English, a short, cute sophomore. During his short time in L. H. S. Bo has made many friends, who like him for his ever-present smile. Billye Io Stephens, secre- tary of her junior class, is an embodiment of eficien- cy and co-operation. An honor roll student, Billye Io is a member of the Cour- tesy Committee of the Stu- dent Council. Bill Carter, with his friendly grin and happy-go-lucky man- ner, has won the friendship and respect of students and teachers alike. YVhether on the gridiron or in his classes, Billye Io's Ta1fy,' is a valuable asset to Westernerdom. Meradith Smith, or Toodles,,' as her friends know her, is famous for the effective manner in which she gets things done. Her energetic ef- ficiency and gay smile always make her welcome when things need at- tending to.
