Although this picture of Coach Lowrey makes him look as if he is asleep, in reality he is a wide-awake roach and tops with the boys out for track. Coach Lowrey was busy when the photographer asked him to pose for this picture. Mr. Lowrey turned around, took a step forward. folded his hands behind his back and said, "Well, snap it." the westerner Football season On September 18, the Westerner team opened its 1942 football season by subduing a hard fighting'Odessa team, 7 to 6. The next week San Angelo's Bobcats invaded our camp and held the Bronc Busters to a 6 to 6 tie. Then we emerged victorious over Big Spring, 18 to 6, only to suffer our first defeat by a stunning upset at the hands of the Breckenridge Buckaroos when they out- scored us 26 to 0. The following week we met Borger for our first conference game and retaliated with a 51 to 6 triumph. We next met the Temfple Wildcats, and they overcame a 6 to 0 handicap to win, 13 to 6. On the following Saturday we went to Pampa and conquered a jolting Harvester team 14 to 13. Brownfield's Cubs handed the Westerners their first defeat in district play when they staved off a last minute rally to win 7 to 6. Then the disaster came! The Golden Sandstorm from Amarillo rolled over a hard fighting Westerner team to th-e tune of 20 to 0.
