Originated in 1928 under the presidency of the Reverend Robert M. Kelley, S.J., sixth president of Loyola University, the Academic Council has since functioned with extraordinary success. The board is pri- marily an advisory body to the president on those matters which concern the educational policy of two or more branches of the university considered as a whole. 16
