During his college career Coach Smith played for Lees-McRae College. While attending Holmes Junior College he was selected on the All-State team and was selected on the All-Smokey Mountain Conference team two years at Milligan and also made the All Volunteer State Athletic Conference teams in his senior year. We are indeed fortunate to have a man such as Coach Smith as our head coach. Co-Captains This year ' s Co-Captains are seniors, James Moore and Junior Ver¬ non. James has played basketball four yearshaving made the first team during his freshman year. He is a good scorer and an outstanding rebounder. Junior has been on the varsity for four years, also, making the first team in his sophomore year. He is capable of playing excellent ball scoring mostly on driving lay-ups. 35 LOW GAP HIGH SCHOOL 1958-59 BASKETBALL SCHEDULE Nov. 7 Nov. 11 Nov. 14 Nov. 18 Nov. 21 Nov. 25 Dec. 2 Dec. 9 Dec. 12 Dec. 16 iUfjj Dec. 18 Jan. 2- Jan. 6- Jan. 13- Jan. 16- Jan. 20- Jan. 22- Jan. 27- Jan. 30- Feb. 6 Feb. 10 Feb. 13 -Friday-Shoals — Home -Tuesday-Piney Creek-Home -Friday-Copeland -- Away -Tuesday-Francisco - Away -Friday-Westfield -- Home - Tuesday-Mt. However, he will have experience at all the other positions. The infield should be improved and will be expected to carry the brunt of the attack. If adequate pitching can be rounded up Lowgap could return to the top of the heap in baseball. Standing: Ewuel Hodges, Harold McCraw, Bernard Flippin, Johnny Wilson, Thomas Lowe.
