Winning Dominates Indian's Season After ending the regular season with a 38-0 wipeout of Skyline, the Indians bettered their record by one, finishing the season with an 8-2 record. Preced- ing the Skyline bout, the Indians lost to both Fort Collins and Rocky Mountain in consecutive games. Attempting to repeat the 1942 state championship win, the tribe began practicing for the state playoffs, in which the Indians victoriously up-ended Broomfield by the score of 15-7 This victory put Loveland into the semifinals to be played with the Montrose Indians at Montrose. It seemed as if Loveland was going to take command early in the game, after scoring a touchdown, in their first offensive drive. But Montrose came back quickly to make the score at the half 20-14 in favor of Montrose. The game seemed to bobble back and forth so at the end of the 3rd quarter the score was 26-21 still in favor of Montrose. The Loveland Indians never regained the lead,x but desperately at- tempted to tie the score so they coul move into overtime.. The' desperate a - tempt came up slightly short as the tribe bowed to the victorious Indians from Montrose by the score of 32-29. An attempt by the Montrose quarterback to scramble for a few yards is suddenly stopped short by a hustling John Melin. Don Hander, following the blocking of Paul Kurth and Doug Ferguson, tights his way past the line of scrimmage in the final upset of the season. -gk
