It has been my happy privilege duringuthe past fifteen years to have aided many students in solving their various problems. These difficulties have found form in the common perplexities ' ' ' ' h th find- of the class room, the adg ustment to the environment in the ome, e ing of a job after graduation, and the many relationships found in any social group. A student recently wrote asking for advice on how to face difficult problems. To this I must say that determination and efort are necessary qualities, but not sufficient. A full understanding of the nature of the ' t' l. problem and abundant knowledge with which to work are very essen 1a All the tenacity and eiort in the World cannot plan a building if the archi- tect is not acquainted with the purpose of the structure, or does not possess full knowledge of the laws of architecture and the rules of architectural composition. My advice, then, is to Work hard and add to your determination useful knowledge with which to solve your difficult problems. Page six li H ii 'v VQ 1 A P1 5
