millil; ' Celebrating 200 Years Dr. Norris presents Gov Martin a tee shirt and Starting the first mile of a 40 mile trek is Bicentennial plaque from the College, Gov, Martin lights Steve Burkehead, Keep that flame the torch for the 40 mile run, alive. The week of March 23-28 was the time set aside by Louisburg College to celebrate its 200 years as an educational institution. It was also the time for the College and its special friends and Alumni to have some fun. The week started off with a Torch Run from the Capitol in Raleigh to the steps of Main Building. There was a special Chapel Service and student concert with The Band of Oz and Sidewinder. It was a week filled with the arts where students and faculty shared their talents both in poetry reading and the Bicentennial Play. The week con- cluded with a sensational Bicentennial Alumni Weekend and Ball with Bo Thorpe and his big band. It was a week to remem- ber the heritage of a great institution, Louis- burg College. state Senator James Speed presents the torch to Dr, Norris on the steps of Main Building. Bicentennial Week 8 The Bicentennial Cake was made from the image of Main Building.
