Par«nl-t ach«r sharing is ihe essence ol Parents Day Mrs and Mr J C Green discuss their son ' s progress with Whil Shearin. PARENTS ' DAY If 4 aar Stan Finch joins his mother, Mrs Jack Finch, fof lurKh Parents Day is the closest thing that Louisburg College has to the P.TA. But here, it only happens once a year. Until October, we ' re able to tell our par- ents our version of how well we ' re doing in school and how well we ' re adjusting to college life. Once they come to the campus for Par- ents Day, they have the opportunity to talk to our professors and find out their version of how we ' re doing. If we ' ve been honest and conscientious and our accounts are similar to what our parents hear from our professors, it ' s a nice occasion. If we ' ve been, well, maybe fudging a bit and our folks find out we ' ve been (heav- ens forbid) cutting class and doing poor- ly, watch out Unless we ' re financially independent, fvlom and Dad usually expect a bit of ac- countability on our part. So it ' s face the music day. and if we ' re lucky, the melody will be sweet. If not. time to hit the books, cut down on party- ng and pull up those grades. Cotfea. juica and donuta are enjoyed by our parents, many ot whom have driven long distances lor the occasion 10 STUDENT LIFE

TRICKSTERS ' NITE It was a cold, dark and wintry night with spook-filled air hovering over the Hillman Dorm-turned-horror house. Cautious stu- dents ventured across campus for the event. As the shadows approached the building, shrieks echoed in the wind. Group after group of brave and daring souls swallowed hard in fear of what was to come as they entered. Guide George Wildman Hale had a flashlight; other- wise, it was totally dark. We were led to the first room which turned out to be a laboratory with none other than Frankenstein himself laid to rest. Dr. Jerry Cullipher injected him with a syringe, thus bringing him to life to the horror of the onlookers. The second room was filled with decay- ing female bodies. It was gore to the max . . . intestines and blood all over! Further along, jailed natives tried to coax us to either free them or join them. An obscure tunnel was the only means of escape. The slanted passageway led to the scene of an emaciated body suspend- ed on a death knot. Finally, Keith Werewolf Roberts led the group to Ben Lacy, who needed our help to conjure up a formula. It turned out he needed our heads! We were chased out with a chain saw. Nothing like a little black-cat boogie for John Ford and others on Halloween eve. Beheading is her business, and a profitable one at that. Jennifer KIrschner won $100 for her costume. 20 STUDENT LIFE
