C. C. A. W srunsur uun' sourn cAMPus fleas 19 . ,947 AS 0' The Student Unit of the California Chiropractic Asociation was organized by Dr. Henry Anderson while a student in 1946. A charter was received and the organization became a regu- lar feature of the extra-curricular activities of the college. Since that time the chapter has re- quested and been granted a charter in the National Chiropractic Assoclation, the chapter being named in honor of Dr. Wilma Churchill. The Student Unit emulates the parent organizations in its aims to protect and foster the philosophy, science and art of chiropractic, to insure the profession proper recognition, to ald ln the Chiropractic Research Foundation, and to raise the educational standards of the colleges. , The keynote of the unit is organization, stressing the need for unity among the profes- sion and encouraging a high standard of professional conduct and ethics. The monthly meetings of the chapter are essentially of an educational nature, featuring field speakers, demonstrations and educational moving pictures. ln addition to regular business, problems of the school, organization and students are discussed. The result of this type of orga- nizatlon is to send forth a student into the field that ls prepared to assume organlzatlonal work and who will have a working knowledge of the state and national organizational functions.

p AMERICAN LEGloN RALPH W. STEWART POST No. 636 OFFICERS The Ralph W. Stewart American Legion Post No. 636 was organized in January 1946, and was named after the first chiropractor to lose his life in World War ll. lt is with particular pride that this post commemorates this clean-cut American lad who was exemplary of chiropractic tradition, ideals and practice. . The first commander of the post was Dr. Thomas G. Kirby, formerly an instructor at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. The primary purpose of the American Legion as a whole is, of course, to keep alive and active the ideals and spirit of Amerlcanism. The Ralph W. Stewart Post now numbering 120 members is composed of those ex-service men and women who are chiropractic students or licensed doctors. lt is rightly called a specialty post, for lt has a spe- cial lnterestf namely, that of furthering chiropractic, through education, social and athletic func- tions. Special classes have been, and are being, conducted by members of the chiropractic profes- slon who give unselfishly of their time, knowlede and experience. The Legion Auxiliary has been organized, the purpose of which ls to create and maintain a soclal interest among the members of the post. The post also sponsors the care of underprivi- leged children who would not otherwise receive chiropractic care.
