Akers, USN, a native of Tennessee, vvas graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in l938, commissioned as ensign, and ordered, interestingly enough, to the battleship USS Tennessee. Thereafter, with the exception ot a short tour in the light cruiser USS Miami, the Com- mander's sea duty centered about destroyers, com- manding two and serving as exectuive otticer in two others. Before reporting to the l.os Angeles in November l954, the Commander headed the Bureau ot Person- nel's Lieutenant Commander Detail Desk.

Bulkeiey reported tor duty as Chief of Statt, Cruiser Division One Hater Cruiser Division Fivei in April 1954 trom his previous duty as Commander Destroyer Division i32 Where he had been serving in the Western Pacific during the last Six months of the Korean War. Captain Bulkeley graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1933. Since that time he has served in cruisers, gunboats, aircraft carriers, destroyers, motor torpedo boats and amphibious ships.
