As usual, there were all types of cars being driven by the students. Some of the most popular were Bugs, Toyotas, Hondas, and Mustangs. Many of these cars were bought by the students them- selves, but others were given to them by very generous parents. The students who bought the cars themselves, had to work long hard hours to buy them, and still do in order to pay for gas and insurance. 70 Cars

There was a scare with Tylonel where the medicine was laced with cyanide. A major medical breakthrough was an ar- tificial heart that was implanted n Bar- ney Clark. The big hits were 'Tast Times at Rid- gemont High , 'Best Friends , 'Rocky III , 'Six Weeks, 'Tirst Blood , H48 Hours , and 'T-7oltergeist . Other movies that had captive audiences included The Verdict with Paul Newman, Gandhi , Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman playing a woman, 'Yin Officer and a Gentleman and 'f.'.'1f , the extra-terrestrial that made motion picture history at the box office. Disappointments included The Toy and The Dark 'C'rysta1 .
