'83 Fashions Are Like 'Hnything goes was the best way to sum up the typical Lobo wardrobe this year. Although the 'prep- pie look wasn 't totally out, many new fads were making their way in. Many students seemed to let music dictate their wardrobe more than ever. Mean- while, other students stuck strictly to the books, al- ways referring to fashion magazines as their guides. The tuxedo look was the toast of the town. The first day of school looked more like a restaurant with most students dressed in wing-tipped collared shirts, bow ties, baggy pants, cumberbunds and patent leather shoes. Lobos were constantly shopping: if its not South Coast Plaza, it 's Thrift World or some other local thrift store. Mods were always visible. Parkas, berets, thin ties, double-breasted jackets, scarves, hats, vests and pointed shoes made the best dressed Mod man. 50's Wear became very popular by second semester. Everyone wore shirts with no sleeves, fuller skirts, petticoats, Levi jackets, mom 's dresses, stone washed jeans, wing-tipped shoes, hushpuppies, fishnet stock- ings, pumps with anklets, cuffed 501 1s and G'ed up hair, made the well dressed rock-a-billy. Lobos had a closet full of shirts with puffy sleeves, I- Zods, Oxford shirts, seamed stockings, varnets with bermuda shorts and mini skirts. Styling was the main thing in mind: argyles, plaids, stripes or polk-a- dots, as long as it was in!!! WW The heart and soul of Rock 'n' Roll! 6 4 Fashions
