JAMES DRUMMOND SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT Undoubtedly, many people will agree that the study of people is the most interesting study of all it DAVID RICHARDS not the most protitable too.- In the social studies department of Lorain High School the thoughts ot actions ot human be- ings in the past are critically ex- amined and studied in order that each future citizen may be pre- pared to deal with people. Beams of sunlight peeking through the shades illuminate Mr. Goehring as he illuminates his Class on some features of the Constitution ol the United States of America. SCll1NCl1 l1PARTlVlENT l 3 5 Amid the clutter of the lecture room desk Mr. Cotton demonstrates some of the characteristics of the air we breathe. How does it work? Why does it happen? Why are things as they are? These are the first questions which prompted man to start on his study of science. These questions still remain to this day to cause many a person to take up the study of science. Nowadays we have found some answers, and it is the duty of the science department of Lorain High School to make these available to the growing mind. Needless to say, such basic knowledge of the nature of things is profttable to all, even if they do not choose this field as their lives' work. JAMES F. ATEN CHARLES W. ANGIE BANGAS TED HUMMEL . ELMER MEYERS Mr. Wasiloff watches carefully as Julius Molnar feeds ci bar through the band INDUSTRIAL ARTS DEPARTMENT Q! 6, CHARLES SWARTWOOD DRIVERS TRAINING No one can argue with the down- to-earth practicality of these two courses ot study available at Lorain High School. lt is a fact that more people were slaughtered on the highways of America since IQOO than were killed in all the wars the United States has entered, including the two world wars! Even the remotest chance of re- ducing this staggering toll would be worth much time and elllort, and our driver training program is lar from a remote chance. Our industrial arts program teaches boys the skill of creating use- tul machinery from basic raw mate- rials by actual experience in our well- equipped shops. It is hard to imagine, for example, that a structure such as the Erie Avenue bascule bridge was once some red powder buried in the earth until we see our boys at work. V ,':.
