When she learns that the man she has recently fallen in love with is her other half of the party line, humorous scenes take place as well as a happy ending. Romeo and Juliet Mrs. Stratman's direction of Shakespeare's classic was superb, and the result was a movingly tragic dramatic production. Romeo and Juliet fall in love, not discovering, until much later, that their families are engaged in a feud. In desperation, the heartbroken Romeo kills himselfg and when Juliet finds him, she too commits suicide in utter grief and despair. The ever popular fairy tales of Hansel and Gretel and Rumplestiltskin were presented to the eager audience of the younger playgoers by an extremely able and pop- ular Trojan cast. Smilin' Through is a romantic comedy that was brilliantly done by the Trojan players. The story begins when Jerimiah Wayne, accidently kills Moonyeen Claire on the day she is to be married to John Carteret. The scene shifts back to the present and another ro- mance. John's niece Kathleen and Jeremiah's son, Ken- neth. Marriage is forbidden, but John slowly realizes the depth of their love and permits them to marry. The final scene comes as John 's life slips into the world be- yond where he is to be with his Moonyeen forever. bl l Q' 4,- 'Wm up , ,bkiif . To do so, inexperience and minor problems had to be avoided from the first. Traditions had to be broken, and new ideas were employed as the book took shape. Many of us have viewed segments of our creation, but we must wait out the summer for the mold to cool. Special recognition should be given to Dale Lukenbach, who donated his time and talent as the annual photographer for the past three years. They ended the season with a 7-0 conference record and the first Northern Conference championship for Longmont in 19 years. It was an uphill fight all the way, as the Tro- jans won only two preseason games and squeezed through four of their conference games by a total of only ll points. Under new head coach Bob Betz, the Trojans, who had started the season slowly, defeated the Greeley Central Wildcats in the final conference game, 57-54, to cinch the conference crown. With four lettermen returning for next year, Coach Betz has a solid nucleus around which to build next year's championship hopes. The 1967-1968 season for the Longmont High School wrestling team was a rebuilding year. Coach Johnson was faced with an in- experienced team of underclassmen all of whom gained priceless experience this year. The Trojan grapplers are looking forward to next year with nine returning lettermen. Dean Makings and Rick Lusero were this season's top wrestlers who represented Long- mont at the state tournament in Denver. ' tf' 5. The 1968 Baseball team had a rough year in Northern Conference play as they won only 4 out of 14 games. The Trojans had good hustle and desire, but were hurt by the lack of a solid pitching staff. Coach Joe Brooks had a good batting combination with Bill Flynn and Jerry Cameron. Cameron, an All Conference selection from last season, and Flynn, who led the Trojans in batting, provided the needtd leadership. W5 jar Qiifztpt' 4. , M... , , ,, . .
