Mrs. Howland, whose retirement became effective last September, served forty eight graduating classes. During her years here she saw many Long Branch citizens attend the school. We extend our grateful thanks to Mrs. Howland for these many years of dedicated service in helping to make Long Branch High School a better and more efficient school. MR. HERBERT A. KORF.Y Principal, L. B. H. S. MESSAGE To the Members of the Class of 1968: The search for direction traditionally has been a primary concern of the high school student. In an era in which significant goals are too often difficult to identify clearly, the alternatives one may select to achieve self-fulfillment may be correspondingly confusing. As senior members of the student body, your attempts to secure meaningful sights at which to aim have importance to your sch( ol and to your community. At this point it is essential for you to re-evaluate your patterns of development and, if necessary, determine new approaches' to achievement. Establish patterns of behavior which will provide for continuous involvement in the activities of your school and with the issues of concern to your fellow students. Avoid enacting the role of critic without suggestion, of p i-tester without adherence to responsibility, of doubter without belief in your community, your classmates, or even yourself. Consider service to principles when you establish your goal. Work towards the security of satisfying personal achievement through positive productive contributions to your society. Join the many proud alumni of Long Branch High School who hold high their level of aspiration and attain notable individual strength through dedicated commitment to their community's needs. This is the tradition of our school. Sincerely, 16 CL. Under the guidance of Mr. William S. Mahalik, the editors and their staffs worked each day after school to meet the deadlines. Several editorial positions were held by underclassmen who gained valuable experience for future years. This year's Green Wave was unique in many ways. The yearbook featured five full-color pictures, as well as five pages in duotone. A new edition was the sixteen page informal introduction. The staff also found a need for a supplement which would contain pictures of the prom, spring sports and current pictures of graduation. The main concern of Student Council this year was to provide service to the entire school and community. Under the leadership of Mr. Phillip DeSantis, it was also able to extend these many services throughout the county and state. The eleven standing committees, together with the Pep Club, provided the student body with a complete activities calendar. Several assemblies and pep rallies, eleven dances, and projects aimed at helping the less fortunate, such as the canned food, clothing and toy drives, were at the top of the calendar. Student Council was also responsible for preparing and selling football programs, and maintaining a student Bookstore and parking lot. Various interscholastic activities were sponsored this year to promote better relations with other schools. Such projects as exchange programs with C.B.A., Neptune, and Asbury Park, as well as a dance and a faculty basketball game with Shore Regional were featured. The presentation of Most Valuable Player Awards to worthy members of opposing football teams, brought much prestige to the Long Branch Student Council. Perhaps the most satisfying accomplishment of the 1967-68 Student Council was obtaining a reduction of student rates at home football games. COMMITTEE Front Row: EXECUTIVE BOARD. The Class of 1968 can look back upon four successful and rewarding years spent at Long Branch High School. During these years we have not only been given a chance at academic achievement, but have been involved in many extra-curricular events. Among the most important of these have been class activities, which enabled us to augment our treasury and enjoy many unforgettable occasions. Freshman year served as our introduction to high school life. We elected class officers for the first time and became united as a class. The year’s activities featured the sale of football programs. Our sophomore year proved to be a test of our class spirit. Our enthusiasm was demonstrated when we presented the sophomore dance, The Doff Dance”, and the sophomore carnival, both of which were very successful and enjoyable. Finally we became juniors—upperclassmen at last. The Junior-Faculty Game, featuring a Roaring Twenties theme, resulted in a substantial financial gain. Later we sponsored a cake sale. Both of these events helped make possible the Junior Prom, Tender is the Night . The prom was hailed as one of the most beautiful of recent years. Our Senior year was the most unforgettable. As Seniors we became the leaders of the school. Finally we acquired the long-awaited Senior privileges, which included a Senior section in the cafeteria and Senior Clash Day. With the privileges, however, came many obligations. In addition to dues collection we held several fund-raising activities. Our major class project was the Senior Variety Show. In cooperation with the Parents Committee, we presented a Card 'Party, a Smorgasbord, and a raffle. These events helped create the last and most unforgettable of our class activities, the Senior Prom. Our four years at Long Branch High School have been spent happily and meaningfully. If, in our stay at LBHS we have contributed but a fraction of what we have received, our life here was worthwhile. We leave with mixed feelings of happiness and sorrow. As we, the graduating class of 1968, leave, we know we are better equipped to meet the challenges that await us. 142 Frances Bailey Michael Baker Clayton Bataille Barbara Bennett George Bennett Alan Berger Kristin Bernheim 143 Wanda Blumenthal Deborah Bottini Denise Boyadjian Marilyn Bill Ronald Bisti Ralph Bitter Marilyn Blaisdell Adajidza Betancourt George Blume Herbert Boyd Sharon Brown Margaret Bryan Joseph Brycki Linda Buono Carolyn Butcher Hermine Butler James Butler 145 Dianne Cadmus Jane Calhoun John Campbell Thomas Campbell Kenneth Capraun Robert Capraun Elizabeth Carbone John Carroll Jeanne Casey Virginia Castillo Dana Celli William Carty 146 Robert Coffman Donna Colaguori Anthony Colbert Maxwell Colby 147 Lester Cook Rosemary Cooper Stephen Cooper Antoinette Corcione Claude Corso Irene Corso Bruce Cranmer Theresa Crelin Daniel Coles Arlene Cook 148 Ronald Crudup Nancy D'Averso Michele DeFazio Barbara Diehl Maddalena DiGuglielmo Stephen Dillon Howard Davis Sandra Cruse Lynn Dalton William Doane Edward Dowd Barbara Drennan Lamar Drinks Jane Ducey Daniel Ducore Blanche Dudick Patricia Duke Shirley Durant George Duston 150 James Echols Martin Edwards Lawrence Edgar Alton Evans Joseph Falivene Lynn Feeney Gloria Jean Fierro 151 Larry Fillian Charleen Fiore Alberico Fioretti John Fisher Wallace Fisher Michael Florida Diane Fusco Virginia Garced Edwin Gardner 152 Anita Garr Nicholas Garreffa JoAnn Gaudious Sandra Genola Deborah George Tamar Gerber Kathleen Gesualdi Philip Gnesin Verna Marie Godshall Lawrence Godoski 154 Carmelina Guzzi Leslie Gwyn Williams Kenneth Halpern Robert Hamer Glenwood Harper Edward Harris James Hartner Martin Hayes Kathleen Hennelly Kathryn Hennessey 155 ! 56 Harold Joline Donna Jordon Willaim Jowers Julie Juliano 157 Bruce Juska Sandra Kaabe Alan Kalish Jeffrey Kaplan Myra Katz Rochelle Kemp Vicki Kirschner Mary Kopicki James Krauter 158 Michael Kudlick Barbara Lagrotteria Kathleen Larsen Terry Laskowski Paul Laur Craig Lekach Donna Lempka 159 Harold Levinson Nancy Lindaman Eileen Lindhardt Noelle Liquori Lillian Little Gloria Logan Joseph Lombardi David Lubetkin Christine Lykes 160 Stephen Malara Rose Mangiamele Patrick Marotta Barbara Marrotta 161 Robert Marsella David Marshall Anna Marie Mazza Mary Lou Mazzacco Charles McCarthy Alice McCray Susan McDaniel Mary McGuire Robert McManigal 162 Eunice Meekins Siglinde Meier Robert Mellone Paul Michau Joseph Mirachi James Moore Paula Moore Terri Morgan Dorothy Morrell Kevin Moser 163 164 165 166 Bertha Pryor Robert Puterman Joseph Rankin Anthony Raviele Ronald Raymond Margo Reisch Patricia Richardson Mary Ann Riebesell John Riley Rose Rizzo 167 168 Denise Satter Phillip Scaduto Wendy Scarpino Cheryl Scher Andrew Scollante Edward Selnick Linda Sherman Clifford Shihar Wayne Short Mark Siegal Christine Sims Harold Sleavin Cynthia Siotkin Helen Smelser Lina Stranieri Asa Surak Cecilia Stroby 170 Fred Swaney Vaughn Swazey Donald Tallarico Karen Taylor Marietta Taylor Ronald Topham Terry Ann Torchia Michael Trocchia 171 John Vaccarelli Mark Vassallo Peter Verrochi Manuel Vizinho Peter Vloyanetes Christopher Wall 17?
