Mathematics Department recognizes necessity foi In such a highly developed society as ours, it is im- portant for all of us to have at least a rudimentary knowl- edge of mathematics. Aware of this, the Mathematics De- partment has adapted its program accordingly. It seeks to provide a firm foundation in the subject for all college- bound students and a mathematical competence for those planning vocational careers. To the former, this means work in not only mechanical computation, but also in theory and abstraction. To the latter, basic concepts and processes of mathematics are Advanced Algebra class concentrates on theories of probability and permutations.
