RADM DENNIS M. BROOKS JOINT TASK FORCE MIDDLE EAST Rear Admiral Dennis M. Brooks is a native of Brimingham, Alabama. I-Ie is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1957 and was designated a Naval Aviator in 1959. I-le was selected for Flag Rank in December 1981. ' I-le has served in five fleet fighter squadrons and has commanded Fighter Squadron FIFTY-ONE, Fighter Squadron ONE-TWENTY-ONE, USS KANSAS CITY fAOR3J, and USS CONSTELLA- TION QCV 645. During his career he has accumulat- ed over 4,500 hours and 990 carrier landings in F- 8 and F-4 aircrafts. In 1965, he received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Naval Post-graduate School. Other tours have included an assignment as I-lead, Aircraft Systems Branch and as a Production Test 10 Pilot with the Bureau of Weapons Representative, McDonnell Aircraft Corporation, he served as a member of the academic faculty, U.S. Naval Acad- emy, an assigment as Air Operations Officer in USS ORISKANY QCV 343 during her last deployment, a tour as I-lead, Aviation Commander Assignment Branch, Bureau of Naval Personnel, duty as Force Readiness Officer on the Staff, Commander Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Director, Space Pro- grams, Naval Space and Warfare Systems Com- mand, Washington, D.C.g and Commander, Carrier Group Seven. Prior to assuming command of Joint Task Force Middle East, Rear Admiral Brooks served as Commander Battle Force Seventh Fleet. He retains responsibilities as Commander Carrier Strike Force Seventh Fleet and Commander Carrier Group Five. Decorations include the Legion of Merit with Gold Star in lieu of Third Award. Rear Admiral Brooks is married to the former Dolores Katherine Gober of Birmingham, Alabama. I-Ie and Lorrie have three children, Mark, Amy, and Allison, Their son, Mark, is a 1985 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a Naval Aviator. -1

FEBRUARY 1986 AUGUST 1987 Commander Etnyre was born in Springfield, Ohio, and graduated from the University of Mich- igan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Educa- tion. He completed the Officer Candidate School at Newport, Rhode Island and was commissioned an Ensign in July 1971. Significant early assignments included duty onboard the USS HAMMERBERG QDE-10151 in Naples, Italy, serving as damage control assis- tant, on the USS ENTERPRISE QCVN-651 as repair officer, and the Department Head Course at Surface Warfare Officer School, Newport, Rhode Island. Following graduation in April 1980, Cdr. Et- nyre reported to the USS MISSISSIPPI QCGN- 40J serving as engineer officer. ln October 1983 he reported as a member of the Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board Atlantic on the staff of the Commander-in-Chief, Atlantic Fleet. In February 1986 he reported aboard USS LONG BEACH QCGN-95 as Exec- utive Officer and served onboard until 16 August 1987. He is married to the former Ingrid Elizabeth Grass of Warren, Michigan and has a daughter, Kirsten and son, Aaron.

1 BGE JAMES F RECORD DEPUTY COMMANDER Jo1NT TASK PoRcE Brigadier General James F. Record is a native of Forest, Indiana. I-Ie is a graduate of Purdue Uni- versity and was commissioned as a second lieutenant through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1961. I-le was promoted to briga- dier general October 1, 1985. In 1972, he received his master's degree in pub- lic administration from Auburn University. Brigadier General Record is also a distinguished graduate of the Air War College. Brigadier General Record's tours have included the following: flight instructor at Laredo Air Force Base, Texas, forward air controller at Chu Lai Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, F-100 pilot, Tuy I-Ioa Air Base, Vietnam, flight instructor, U.S. Air Force In- strument Pilot lnstructor School at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, air operations officer, Fighter Di- vision Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Programs and Resources, I-Ieadquarters U.S. Air Force, Wash- ington, D.C.g chief of safety, 34-7th Tactical Fighter Wing, Moody Air Force Base, Georgia. Brigadier General Record is a command pilot with more than 6,000 flying hours, including 1,100 hours during 616 combat missions over Southeast Asia. His military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit with one oak cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Air Medal with 27 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Ser- vice Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one service star, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Brigadier General Record is married to the former Peggy J. Miller of Warrior, Alabama. They have three sons: James, Jonathan and Joseph.
